We are in the middle of a server thunderstorm warning. They are calling for hail and high wind gusts. It actually just started thundering and raining. It's pretty common in Michigan this time of year. My prep for storms includes getting the emergency rather radio out. Making sure I have the kids daycare bad wth a change of clothes and his lovey by the basement door and putting my flash drive with all work in my pocket. That way if it escalates to a tornado I can grab the bag and kid and run to the basement and all my work is safe with me. We can lose the rest of the house and I would cope but I don't know if I would recover from losing the latest updates to my writing

Sounds scary! Hopefully it doesn't amount to that. We're getting some thunderstorms here too. Some rolled through earlier, but I'm not sure if that was the last of them. Usually storms don't amount to much here, although Central Pennsylvania has been known to get hit pretty good sometimes. (Mostly Lancaster which is about an hour east of where I live). Usually, though, we just get a bunch of rain with some lightning and loud thunder. I'm not worried. Haha.

The storm passed pretty harmlessly. It poured and thundered for about 30 mins but no wind or hail so that's good.

That's good! We've still got a big weather warning over here...there's a whole crap ton of fires and haze worse than LA (b/c of fires in Vancouver B.C.), plus temperatures in the double digits...yeah...the last few days have NOT been fun...

Ok guys I'm need some advice. I only have about 4 scenes left to rewrite for the story I was working on for camp. I'm hoping I'll be able to have that done this week. I plan on then picking back up on an unrelated WIP i started in April. I have about 24,000 words written in that story (Cleansing Rain). I just did a quick read through so I can start getting back in the mind set and it's terrible. Like I wouldn't even share it on the SSN thread at this point. The bones of the story are good and I'm starting to get a handle on the characters but what I have written so far is soooo bad.
Here's where I need your advice. Would you:
1. Keep going with the current draft and write it to the end, knowing that the at least the first part of the story will need to be completely scrapped and rewritten? The story isn't even very consistent with what's happening and why at this point and the pacing is really off.
or
2. Start from scratch using those first 24,000 as more of an outline of events?
I'm leaning towards option 2 at the moment, but I'm still not sure. I've never scrapped a story in the middle and started over before. I'm just concerned it's going to be too frustrating to figure out the rest of the story with the beginning in as bad of shape as it is and that it will be more work down the line to fix the beginning than it would be to start over now.

I'd go with number 2. Been there, done that, and I can safely say that you are would get a lot more productivity and enjoyment out of scrapping and starting again with good writing than continuing. My first ever draft of the trilogy was utter shit and tbh the plot wouldn't have developed to what it is if I hadn't restarted. Of course, it's still possible to pull it off if you go with no. 1 if you have s good idea of where it's headed, so in the end it's down to what you want to do with the plot.

I am leaning towards starting over, especially after talking it through with Athaia on discord. I think I need to spend a little time doing some characterization and plot planning then start it over. I'll have to change my August goals but I think that's ok. I think I took on too much as is, since at the moment I'm so stressed out with just family and work stuff that I want to curl up in a ball under my desk and cry for awhile. I won't, but it sounds tempting. I don't want my writing to be another source of stress at the moment since that's the fun stuff.

Hi guys, sorry I've been MIA the last few days and if I'm being honest I probably won't be around much for the next week and half.
Work has been crazy busy this week, especially since my partner is off on vacation this week. Though if I'm being honest it really isn't that much different than from when he is there. I have two corporate people coming to my secondary plant that I manage environmental compliance for part time on Thursday. They will be conducting an all day audit of the environmental management system so I've spent all week making sure I have everything in order for that. Then on Friday I have an interview for a corporate job with my company which would be a huge promotion if I get it. The interview will consist of two separate panel interviews each scheduled for an hour and half. At least they are giving me a half hour break in between.
We also leave for vacation super early Saturday morning, like we leave our house for the airport at 4 am. So on top of all the work craziness, I'm spending my evenings finishing packing and making sure everything is set for the trip.
Needless to say, I haven't had any time or energy to write the last several days. I am plotting my new story in my head when I can find a quiet minute so that's something I guess. I do hope to pop in here at least a few times during vacation while the kid is napping. I'll be in Joy's timezone so it won't be the normal times for me.

Holy crap...that does not sound like fun! I hope everything goes really well for you, and that you get the promotion-you definitely deserve it (especially with an fantastic-sounding partner like that... :/) Yay, there'll be someone else in my timezone! <3 Are you going to Cali, or...? I may be a bit MIA this upcoming week, but I don't know for sure...my schedule is also completely nuts, as seen here: -Today: Work until 5pm, spend after dinner packing for school -Tomorrow: 6 hour shift at Target, final mid-week shift b4 school starts back up -Saturday: Maybe do a bit of shopping to finalize stuff for school, PACK EVERYTHING!!!! -Sunday: Church, move into school at 6pm -Monday: Finish organizing room (my 1 day "off"), probably start beta-ing y'all's stuff, maybe watch the solar eclipse, marathon all 3 Narnia films with my school best friend -Tuesday/Wednesday: Student Leader Training -Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun: New Student Orientation (in which I am a student leader, so I'm helping make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes instead of helping lead a group, which I did last year) -Monday (8/28/17 or 28/8/17, which ever way you do dates): CLASSES START YAY!!!! Haha...so I'll be a bit busy and maybe a little MIA...but I am going to be trying to be beta-ing your projects during the evenings!!! I'll try to stay as in touch as I can!!

Hi guys. I wanted to apologize for not being around much the last week or so. I had thought I was getting the flu and that was killing my motivation to write. Turns out though that I'm pregnant. We are very excited (we've been trying to close to 2 years) but it has pretty much sapped all of my energy already. I'm going to have to be very disaplined to get my writing time in and hopefully with your support I can keep the motivation going. I didn't write for over 2 years when I got pregnant with my first and I don't want that to happen again.

Congratz to the old posters joys! Speaking of human spawning, I had a niece born, oh two weeks ago-ish. I have yet to meet her because Spacetime is inconvenient but she is the child of one of my better siblings, and thus I am biased toward thinking of her as a cool dudebro even though she's like, not even 1 month old and I haven't met her. She's also super cute and wittle tho in the pics!
