ROFL! I'd totally do that if I ran NASA!
Don't you love it when synchronicities like these suddenly pop up all around you? I think it's the universe's way to wink at us.

I've never watched a YT video to get motivated. I used to use Lose Yourself by Eminem (just mentally replacing the whole music angle with writing) and that never failed to get me pumped. I haven't had to resort to that lately, thank God, just trying to get the story in my head out onto the computer before it fades back into my gray matter.

Hmm...well, I normally watch a lot of videos about my genre and authors' daily lives, and somehow that seems to get me going. I've been watching a lot of George R.R. Martin lately, since I recognize that he's one of the better fantasy writers of this generation, even though I don't read his works. I don't know why exactly, but seeing how other writers write and hearing other fantasy writers talk about their worlds really inspires me to get mine going. If I'm just going for instrumental stuff, then I usually use either Two Steps From Hell/Audiomachine stuff, or my Nano playlist, which starts with the Game of Thrones theme song (because it is fantastic), then goes to a couple things of dubstep violin (because Lindsey Sterling is fantastic), has a couple of TV/movie theme songs, and then a medley of songs from Merlin (because that show is AMAZING!!!!! ) Not sure how much this would inspire other people, but it seems to work for me!

Ok so the videos I watch are kind of cheesy but they get me going. Here are two of my favorites, they are music videos made about nanowrimo and help get me pumped for the whole process. Someone in my cabin last year sent me a link to this one. 1667 Words (original song)Then this one Youtube suggested to me The NaNoWriMo Song *Updated*

Okay, this might not be the right place for this, but I really need to rant about this for a second (sorry about ranting...)... So, I mentioned recently to someone at work that I'm a writer, and that I've published a couple of books. He then (a couple of days later) asked if he could text me, and he's been texting me a bunch of stuff that he's been writing and asking what I think. It's not that I don't like reading other people's stuff, it's just that he's a bit pushy about it...and that the writing is rather bad, and he doesn't really seem to accept my suggestions. Also, I'm a massive introvert, and have social anxiety on top of that (and may be a bit anti-social, but I'm not sure about that), so I prefer to stay home when I have free days, since that's how I recharge. When we were texting, he seemed not to understand what introverts even were, and kept trying to push me to go out and do a ton of stuff, even saying that the two of us should go skydiving this summer, before saying that he was just joking, but would still like to go to the beach during the summer. He's not a bad person, it's just that he keeps aggressively pushing me to go out and do a ton of stuff. He also won't listen to suggestions from me about his writing... :/ Again, sorry about this rant if this isn't the right place for it...he's just been driving me nuts lately, and it's been really getting on my nerves. He's also one of those people who says "Oh, of course I'll read your stuff," and then never ever reads it. Ugh...

Vent away Joy. That is really annoying. I'm also an introvert and I can't stand pushy people who are full of themselves. It sounds like he is just trying to get you to tell him how awesome he is, which isn't cool when you are really trying to help him. I hope he takes the hint and backs off.
On another note what books have you published? I'd love to be able to buy and read them.

Yeah, I hope so too...I do want to help him, but the fact that he's just brushing me off while his draft says stuff like " 'Blah blah blah," Isaac would yell", it's like...really, dude? *facepalm* I can't either. It's nice that I've communicated that fact to most of my friends at school, so when I say that I need my "introvert bubble" at meals and stuff, they don't bother me (even though my best friend there is an extrovert, she understands...now... I had to train her a bit first. ) Addressing your other note, I've published the first two books in the series that I'm working on right now (first book was my NaNo project, editing the second was my April camp project). I still need to do a bit of editing (luckily Pronoun and Createspace let me do that), but they're called "The Empire of Tarn: A House Divided" (book 1) and "The Empire of Tarn: The Mythica Mission" (book 2). It's available in ebook and print form (ebook is on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iBooks, Google Play, and Kobo), and the print form is just through Amazon.

I might have to pick your brain later about Pronoun and Createspace. I want to self publish the first two books of my series next year and was considering using both of them, but I haven't done a lot of research yet.

So, Chief, joy and I had the idea for a Backstory Friday (Chief came up with the concept) when we were talking about character creation. Is anyone interested in such a thing? We could freewrite and post the results in a thread, or create a RAA Backstory thread, or... if you have an idea, share it here.
