Welcome to our forum, fellow writer! Don’t mind the name - we’re not as desperate as it suggests.
The Last Resort was created as an in-joke in one of NaNoWriMo’s Camp April 2017 debriefing threads, and led to the creation of the Last Resort Cabin for Camp July 2017, and of this forum. What began as a way to stay in contact outside of Camp and the main event in November, quickly evolved into a close-knit circle of writer friends, who supported each other’s writing with reviews, encouragment, and just hanging out together. Our productiviy skyrocketed, and we decided that we wanted to widen that circle to other writers. The more, the merrier, right? So we’re happy you’re here!
The mission of The Last Resort is still to provide a friendly circle of writing buddies, because writing is a lonely endeavour; to improve our writing skills, by challenging each other to write outside our comfort zone, and by reviewing each other’s excerpts; and to support and encourage one another when we hit the inevitable roadblocks, external or internal.
As with every social interaction, you get only as much out of it as you’re willing to contribute. This forum isn’t meant to be an echo chamber of some busy few; we expect that you give a little of your time, your passion, and your experience to the community of writers. In exchange, you’ll get lots of support, resources, and a wide range of experience from people all over the world who burn with the same passion as you:
