So, I've been missing from the writing trenches for a bit over two weeks now - that's the longest I haven't written since I started three years ago (with the exception of four-months writing block early on, but that one had other reasons than my current burnout). I still feel no spark when I think of any of my project, fanfic or original, which makes me think this has nothing to do with the stories, but is more due to a complete lack of energy.
In truth, this started months ago. I had to force myself to even start The River, drafting it was a chore, letting it sit for a month untouched was a relief (when I had started revising my other stories immediately after finishing the first draft), revising was a chore, taking a break was a relief, then Camp was a chore... I should've taken those hints.
So, for June, I'm consciously taking a vacation from writing. I hope that by the end of the month, I'll be in better writing shape again.
Writing:
Taking a break. Maybe playing around with / researching for my MfA fanfic.
Reading:
Rereading some old favorites of mine: The Valley of Horses, The Plains of Passage, The Eyes of the Amaryllis. Some psychology books I find interesting (Gods and Diseases).
Other:
I started running, which does wonders for my back and my mood, and I have two enthusiastic cheerleaders in my dogs, so hopefully I'll manage to keep the habit; I'll also try to reintroduce Yoga into my daily schedule (also good for my back, and I have no idea why I stop doing it again and again). Changing my diet to slow/low carb. I'm also starting dog school with my two youngsters this month, so that should also be (hopefully) fun.
