August is over and Sept is here. Let's keep the momentum going and share what your goals are for Sept. While we're at it tell us how you did to your Aug goals.
I honestly didn't do great in Aug. I think I was still riding high on how awesome July Camp went that I thought I could maintain that. I was wrong. I did finish the second draft of Family Binds like I wanted to and started writing Cleanings Rain, though I thought I'd be much further along than I am. I also didn't get nearly as much Beta reading done as I wanted to, so sorry about that guys.
So for Sept I'm going to try to set some much more realistic goals. -Daily word goal will be 750 words (except for Fridays since I take those off). I'll be working my way through Cleansing Rain. -I do want to do more Beta Reading for you guys this month so I'll try to get through some of that -I need to spend some time on my social media sites working on my platform, especially since I want to self publish the Journey series starting next year. I haven't updated my website/blog since April I think so I want to write at least one blog post for that. -Reading Goal is just to finish Wool by Hugh Howey. It's over 500 pages and I'm about half way through it at the moment so I'd really like to find time to finish that. -If I'm super motivated I might start researching editors and cover designers for the Journey series, but I still have time to figure that out.

Hollyash - if it helps any, I have a friend that has been successful self publishing and getting her covers done through 99designs.com.

Good idea, Holly! Let's see how I did in August... Beta: Well, the bookclub thing over at Wattpad is going well, thanks to the mods who are very strict re: keeping your obligations, but I also have an awesome review partner, so I'm very happy with that. My review partner on ff.net slacked off for over a week before reviewing... twice... so my motivation is a bit down, too. It's not that I'm punishing them by not responding quickly (well, a bit perhaps), but I'm just not that enthusiastic anymore. In fact, I'm out of love with ff.net after it fucked up my chapters, turning them into unintelligible html garble *mutters under her breath* I did beta that part of Holly's Journey script I had promised, so that's good, but I haven't started on Chief's, which I also promised, which is bad. Chief's story is on my to-do list for September. Draft/Revision: I did upload The Good Seeds and The Hostage to ao3, so now I only have The Trap for revision, but I'll shelf that one at least for the first half of the month, because I want to fully focus on finishing the first draft of The Interrogation. Currently, I have 1/3 of the story done, but the write-ins helped to get over the initial intimidation I felt towards the theme (torture), so I'm confident that I'll actually finish the draft this month. (and then we can all take a deep breath and move on... ) Prewrite: I finally got a little more written of the plot for my original sci fi (which still lacks a good working title! I may need your help on this one, guys), ironically only after I finally determined my MC's job in her "normal world." She's a tax inspector. No, no, I'm not taking any questions - it was my Muse's idea, and she still thinks it's awesome, so ask her. Plans for September: - Finish 1st draft of The Interrogation
- Beta for Chief
- More prewriting for sci fi original
- I actually want to start doing writing exercises once a week, probably on Saturdays, to keep improving my writing. I'll post my results in the subforum in the hope that it'll inspire others to join me there. Coincidentally, tomorrow is September's first Saturday... remembers that today is Backstory Friday and I haven't posted Zaius yet...
So, what are everybody else's plans?

This thread is going to be so valuable I can feel it. xD September is kind of a "glide month" for me because at work, we have a biiiig conference in Atlanta of which I am one of the coordinators. So that will cut off about five writing days for me mid-month. Thank goodness it's not a NaNo month xD So my goals for September are: - Get a comfortable distance through Book 2, moving at my own pace
- At least start to beta every story in the beta thread (might be a big undertaking but I LOVE THEM ALL, SO)
- Help keep the forums active!
- Get Book 3 Outlined
- Get some reading done while I'm out of town

Sooooo last month was not great and I earned a 10/10 for epic fails, but now that I've gotten some plot sorted and things planned, hopefully Sep will be better.
Goals are as follows:
- finish sequel - finish drafting 1st book - get a move on w prequel - beta-ing for everyone, Hollyash especially bc I'm such a terrible person and I've only finished one chapter - other things I'm totally forgetting about - oh and finish the 2nd GoT book

I'm glad I'm not the only one that reached my August goals. I think everyone's sept. goals sound great and achievable.

Hey! So, September's going to be a semi-busy month for me...I've got school/work/writing, so I'm really hoping I don't keel over before too long. August went okay, but there's some I screwed up at. Here's my goals, though! Sept. Goals: - Finish Camryn and Elaine's scenes in TGS
- Work on Nat's 2 chapters (gotta torture him at some point! )
- Outline "The Western War" (tentative title of book 4)
- Work on making the villains believable characters, not flat
- Send "A House Divided" to DAW Publishing (branch of Penguin Books), with the note that I can de-self-publish if they accept it
- Keep up on homework
- Actually sit down and beta people's stuff
- Sit down and figure out the twins' personalities better, so they're not just there to joke around, but are actually well-rounded characters...also give them more to do, so they're not just kinda there!
Good luck on all of your Sept. goals!

I don't think I ever posted any August goals, but I did have a list over on the Nano Forum and I accomplished pretty much everything. Here's what I'm planning to accomplish during September:
-Substitute Teach as often as possible -Keep up with grad school work and get all out of class work done as early as possible -Finish season 3 of Sailor Moon -Write something...anything; I seriously failed at writing last month...for the first time ever -Keep in shape (swimming all summer helped and I don't want that all to go to waste!) -Attend part 1 of 4 of a Professional Development for grad students at the end of the month -Help out my university marching band at games on Saturdays throughout the month -Make sure my older cat (Schotzi) does not kill or otherwise mutilate new kitten (Loki); She hates him... -Really take efforts to eradicate the fleas that they they belong in my house and on my cats -Keep up to date with all bills
I think that's enough goals to get started for now.
